Not what you pay for!, April 6, 2009 This review is from: Classic Epicure 30" Single Electric Wall Oven With Convection Filter Temperature Probe Glass Touch Control Panel & 3.9 cu. ft. Self-Cleaning Convection I have owned my Dacor oven and microwave for 4 years now. Ever year I get to spend another $2-300 to repair it. The microwave control unit died twice, the main cooking element in the oven needed to be replaced, the oven glass cracked in the cleaning cycle, and 6 months later is now full of moisture and rusting. Dacor's response: "Sorry, call a service guy." Their products and their support is not what I paid for, especially given their aspirations to be a high end brand! Garbage!!!

Self-Cleaning Convection We bought the Dacor oven because it looked great and had lots of cool features. Huge mistake. If we're lucky, it only breaks once a year. The clock and timers stopped working (and pressing the reset button on the board (which requires turning off power and taking the control panel apart) no longer recovers it. Today, I ran it on self-clean and I can't get it to stop beeping some door code except by shutting off the main breaker.
Buy a GE or Kitchen Aid - may not have the fancy name, but you won't be paying repair bills.

Self-Cleaning Convection Paid a lot of money for the Dacor Ovens believing that it would be worth it to have the high quality. I can say that of all the appliances I've owned these ovens are the worst. If I use the self-cleaning feature the ovens will not work afterwards. I learned from the repairmen how to take the control panel apart and reset everything but that is certainly not what I'd recommend as an acceptable "feature" in ovens. I do this only to save the hundreds of dollars in repair bills it otherwise cost. The ovens looked good when I bought them but the materials are certainly not what you'd expect to find on a quality appliance. I didn't realize the door handles were "plastic" until they began crumbling apart due to heat exposure. Even the screw-holes that hold the handles in place are plastic. When the oven is on it heats the door and the metal screws that hold it in place. This causes the plastic around it to melt and it soon disintegrates.
