For This Much Money, The Kinks Should Be Worked Out By Now, December 22, 2011 By This review is from: KitchenAid KEBC247VBL 24in Double Wall Oven - Black Finding a built-in wall oven to fit an older home's dimensions is hard. We had to do some cabinetry remodeling when our first 24" KitchenAid Superba was purchased in 1999. I thought I was getting a top of the line appliance. After using the self-cleaning feature two times, the oven blew its fuse, locked down and the repairman declared that feature officially dead. For the next twelve years I manually cleaned that "self-cleaning" oven. The problem is not unique to me; it still persists in today's models--just google "KitchenAid self-cleaning problems." A class action lawsuit has even been filed against KitchenAid regarding this very topic.
However, other than the self-cleaning issue, the oven has performed wonderfully (virtually problem-free) for about eleven years. It has many great features--the convection oven produces attractive, evenly browned baked goods and roasts. There is a built-in meat thermometer, and dehydrating foods or proofing bread is easy. I replaced a Thermodor and this is so much better. I ordered from ApplianceConnection and everything was absolutely perfect.
